Welcome to Puppy Training in Kent - 21st Great Year!
Why is Puppy Training So Important?
Dog training has moved forward in the last twenty years, and whereas most dogs were trained at six months or later then, it is now understood that this is probably the worst time to try and train an adolescent dog and also potentially means that problems such as shyness, separation anxiety, aggressiveness, lead pulling etc have already become established behaviour in the young dog. These dogs then become the owner’s nightmare, cowering when introduced to new people or situations, barking or charging at other animals or people, destroying the house when left or dragging owners around on a lead.
Puppy Training is the Solution
Young puppies need to attend Puppy School where both owner and dogs can experience gentle reward based training methods, plus a variety of exercises designed to equip pups with skills and confidence to manage their lives as a domestic family pet.A puppy is only a puppy for such a short time! Training at an early age i.e. three months is much easier because the pup wants to please you, and is trusting of new experiences because there are no detrimental experiences to worry them. Puppies at this stage are also soaking up knowledge of the world and this should be the time when you expose your puppy to as many new sights and sounds as you can. Puppy training can help provide some of these experiences.
Jan can help you with Puppy Training Classes
I can offer training for you and your puppy with other puppies of similar age at the Puppy Training School held in Tunbridge Wells. The course offers training and socialisation for young puppies using positive reinforcement methods and gives you an understanding of how puppies learn so together you can become an effective team. We will cover lots of different areas such as mouthing and biting, recall, jumping up, lead training and more. Classes are small, friendly and organised by an experienced trainer and qualified teacher.
Our aim is for you and your pup to learn each other’s ways, communicate clearly and build a solid, respectful, trustworthy relationship which allows you to all live together sensibly and happily.
Or 1:1 tailor-made sessions for you and your puppy!
I can also offer tailor-made one-to-one Puppy Training sessions in your own home/garden.
You might be bringing a new puppy home and want some guidance before the puppy arrives or is Puppy home and you need some help with caring for your puppy and early training? Has your puppy got past the 'honeymoon period' and you now need some help with early behaviour perhaps centred around the family, children? I do lots of 1-1's with families as I am a Primary School Teacher as well as trainer so can help your children understand the rules and boundaries needed with a family pet? Would you like your children to help with the training? I can help your children interact with your puppy safely whilst both have fun!
For all your training needs, I can help...
Remember - a trained dog is a happy dog because they know what to expect and what is expected of them.
